Nia Pierre joined Poly Prep’s Lower School in 2022 as a third grade head teacher. A 2018 cum laude graduate of Spelman College, she earned her bachelor’s in political science on a pre-law track. She earned her master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from the Relay Graduate School of Education in 2022. After working in the financial and technology industries at some of the world’s largest firms, she discovered her life’s purpose in education at the Uncommon Schools where she taught as a co-lead third and a fourth grade teacher to classrooms of up to 30 students. Third grade was her favorite year of primary school as a child, and she hopes to make that the reality for her students. “I want my students to feel safe, encouraged to take risks,” Nia said, “and be excited about learning!” During her free time, Nia loves to travel, go bike riding, try out new restaurants, and play with her mini–Labradoodle/best friend Ralphie.
